And not all my entries will begin with some sort of proverb, cliché, or cultural musing. Promise.

That being said, there is a first time for everything, and this is my first experience with having a public voice. I’m excited to carve out a little bit of territory on the interwebs, call it my own, and share all my baking adventures, or “baketivities”.

Because I cannot bake for a living, I am employed at a toy store, and the name of this blog comes from that arena of my life. Last summer we did a whole bunch of crafts with a whole bunch of kids, and named them “kid-tivities”. The suffix stuck; my co-workers and I applied it to every action imaginable. It started out as a joke, but somehow made it into my life and I found that it describes my food experiences quite aptly.

Baking, for me, is something that gives me more pleasure than most anything.  The labyrinthine quality of baketivies, in sense that it is comprised of so many different tasks, allows me time in the day to lose myself and wander around in delight.

So, I want to share everything, if you’ll have me.

There is no real theme to my baketivities, other than only doing baked goods. I consider myself an intrepid baker and eater, so anything is game. There will be gluten-free recipes and vegan delicacies, along with dairy-filled dreams and deep fried fantasies.

In conclusion, expect anything, and expect it regularly!
